Absence Reporting & Policies
REPORTING STUDENT ABSENCES
To report a student absence, parents should do one of the following within 72 hours of the student's absence date:
- Call the Questa Attendance Line at (209) 836-7231 and leave a message
- Email [email protected]
All messages and emails should contain the following information:
- Student First & Last Name
- Student Grade Level & Teacher Name
- Reason for absence
- Attach a medical note to email, if applicable
Absences must be cleared within seventy-two (72) hours (three days) of the student's absence. Absences not cleared within this time frame will be marked as unexcused.
ILLNESS/MEDICAL ABSENCES
Pursuant to LUSD Administrative Regulation (AR) 5113(c), once a student has accumulated ten (10) illness absences verified by a parent/guardian, any additional illness absences must be verified by a doctor’s note. The medical note must be received within seventy-two (72) hours (three days) in order to clear the absence; otherwise, the absence will remain unexcused.
STUDENT EARLY PICK-UP
When picking up your student early for any reason, please allow up to 20 minutes for your student to be released to the office. Students will be called to the office once they are signed out. We ask that you do not pick up your child between 2:00pm to 2:10pm (Grades TK-3rd) and 2:45pm to 2:55pm (Grade 4th-8th). These last 10 minutes of the day are hectic for the classroom teacher as he/she brings the day to a close. Please make arrangements to come prior to these times if you must pick up your child before school is out.
